2026 FRCC Wildland Fire Course Schedule
We are currently putting together a Wildland Fire Academy with our partners at Front Range Community College (FRCC) that will take place in April 2026 in Fort Collins, Colorado. The courses we will be offering are FREE for participants to take, though participants will have to pay for their transportation to and from Fort Collins if they will be coming in from out of town. We are likely going to be able to cover lodging in a hotel for those coming in from out of town, though we can provide the participants with more of this information down the line.
We are looking for about 18 students per course and still have opens seats in each of the courses. We have created a Microsoft Form for any interested applicants to fill out. Our staff will be reviewing these applications in the next few weeks, so please pass this along to any of your contacts and/or folk you feel might have interest in participating. The link is below:

These include some fairly straightforward predictions about the Initial Attack policy being ramped up again, increased use of large aviation platforms and autonomous aircraft, retention and recruitment, and the big one… a surge in wildland fire betting markets.
Wildfire betting markets popped up during the Palisades Fire in California in 2025, and I have a feeling they will only increase until they are adequately addressed. It’s a free market, but there are clear issues that could arise if this trend continues.
